2020 CHARIoT CHALLENGE
Develop an AR Interface for first responders during mass casualty incidents
2020
UX Design / UI Design
THE CHALLENGE
This challenge was hosted by the National Institute of Standards & Technology, Public Safety Communications Research Division (NIST PSCR) to develop an AR interface for the Magic Leap 1 that integrates real-time data for first responders to make actionable and informed decisions during 4 example mass casualty scenarios.
We worked closely with our subject matter experts to understand the needs of first responders in these scenarios and identify key areas where these technologies can provide the most benefit.
Our interface concept was awarded 5th place in the competition.

THE SOLUTION
RespondAR is our prototype augmented reality system that streamed IoT data to assist first responders in the field through an Incident Command console and a Heads-Up Display.
For Incident Command, we provided an overview of the map and corresponding data with the ability to look at every aspect of the incident in detail as needed.
For the HUD, we only provided the most relevant information designated by the Incident Commander so as to not overwhelm first responders.
